The Digital Education Colab: Investing in Digital Learning Solutions

The Digital Education Colab focused on the challenge of incorporating digital learning solutions into classroom curriculum. On behalf of the W. K. Kellogg Foundation and in collaboration with the CK-12 Foundation, Jossey-Bass (A Wiley Imprint), Silicon Valley Education Foundation and Stanford Design School, Cazneau convened a highly selective group of stakeholders representing government, foundations, charter schools, investors, technology companies and educators to move the digital education discussion forward.

This Colab Phase 0 convening was designed to explore the potential value of convening public and private investors and industry players in the digital education space to identify opportunities to effective coordinate around market challenges or opportunities

Discussions focused around five opportunity areas:

  • Digital Textbooks - Adaptive Learning
  • Mobile Technologies - Distance Learning
  • Digital Media and Serious Gaming - Content and External Learning
  • Funding Mechanisms - Sustainable Development and Deployment
  • Distribution Strategies - Curriculum Incorporation and Assessment and Startards Alignment

Results

The discussions identified 26 opportunities that ranged from core market infrastructure opportunities, technology opportunities, new market aggregation and exploration, marquee events to promote the market and new financing tools and products.  Each opportunity received some level of commitment to explore further interest, conclusivel proving that co-design opportunities exist in the digital education marketplace.
