Status: Completed
Founded by NASA, USAID, the US Department of State and NIKE, LAUNCH is a unique initiative to identify, showcase and support innovative approaches to global sustainability challenges. Inspired by NASA's mission to "leave intact for future generations our Earth's unique ability to sustain life," the LAUNCH platform leverages cross-sector collaboration to accelerate the next generation of sustainability innovations.
Hosted on the periphery of the United States' remaining Space Shuttle launches, the LAUNCH program is designed as an open collaboration and innovation program, leveraging the collective expertise, networks and influence of partners to accelerate and scale disruptive approaches in sustainability.
LAUNCH:Water brought together 10 innovations, whose transformative innovations address key water security and sustainability issues. The program leveraged the expertise of the LAUNCH: Water Council (a high profile group of experts from government, industry, investment, academia and media) to identify resources to support the innovators aiming to significantly accelerate their time to market and the impact of their innovations.
Following the LAUNCH: Water Forum, an Accelerator program identifing and allocating resources to support the innovators in the development or deployment of their technology or methodology. LAUNCH:Water supported innovations ranging from low cost arsenic removal systems to CERs for water sanitation and resulted in a number of projects for both innovators and partners.
Cazneau brought LAUNCH to life in partnership with Second Muse and Big Idea Group.
*The inaugaral forum showcasing 10 water innovations was held March 16-18, 2010 at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
