Building on the work done for the Cleantech Financing Strategy for the Asia Pacific Partnership, this project developed a tangible framework for Environment Canada to consider leveraging to support the clean technology industry.

Addressing Industry Needs

This strategy focuses on facilitating financing to address the specific needs of entrepreneurs, MNCs and project developers by engaging directly with the private sector and investment marketplaces.  Recommendations for enabling the Government of Canada to provide connection, acceleration and transaction across the cleantech value chain also focus on developing a strategy for direct engagement with the private sector.

The Government of Canada's role would include:

• Developing Better Collaboration Platforms
  • Technology Development: Resources enabling innovation and commercialization
  • Facilitating Deployment: Standardization and resources for project developers
  • Aggregating Investors: Aggregating financial networks and mapping tools
